Dare to Care Supporters
The Dare to Care program is currently feeding hundreds of children in our community thanks to the many generous supporters of the program and the vision of "No Child Goes Hungry." The sense of community and "helping your neighbor" is a large part of the Alaskan life and we are very proud to be a part of that tradition.
Dare would like to thank the many individuals who have come together with resources, money, time and other donations to help make this program a success.
I believe James says it a lot better. This is an actual image of a poem Dare to Care received from James.

Schools and School Programs are helping Dare to Care Succeed
Chugiak High School has been amazing in their generosity and desire to help children in our schools. The Chugiak Varsity Cheerleaders donated $1,000.00 that they won through the Community Service Award from Alaska State Cheer Association. This money will help both Dare to Care and the district’s Partner’s In Homeless Education program. The Chugiak Special Education Department makes and sells smoothies at school. They donated $100.00 to benefit these students as well.
Mr. Lang and the Chugiak Swing Choir designated their 2006 Winter Show to benefit the Dare to Care program – and to jump start the program at Chugiak High School so students could immediately start benefiting. The show was amazing as usual and helped bring information into the community about Dare to Care and its efforts. The Chugiak Swing Choir donated $400 to the program. Thank you!
Chugiak Elementary School participated in a Thanksgiving Dinner Box drive in which 20 classes decorated boxes and filled them with all the needed ingredients for a perfect Thanksgiving Day dinner – including a turkey! The boxes were first distributed to families-in-need within the school and the remaining boxes were disbursed to families in neighboring schools. During Thanksgiving 2006, 13 families in the Chugiak/Eagle River area received dinner boxes and 7 boxes went to families in Anchorage.
Dimond High School
The Dimond High School Student Government donated $500.00 to jumpstart the Dare to Care program in their neighborhood. Thanks to those students, Dare to Care is closer to their goal of “No Child Goes Hungry.” A big THANKS to Dimond!
Service High School: Z-Club
Z-Club is a student organization affiliated with Zonta International which is a service organization. Z-Club has been established at Service for over ten years and it attracts students who are interested in doing things for their school and community. Traditionally, they help out at events such as Trick or Treat Town and school carnivals. They have also been involved with Kids’ Kitchen, bell ringing with the Salvation Army, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. They also have in-school fundraisers. One particular favorite is when they make waffles which have been presold.
Youth Groups in Alaska are helping Dare to Care Succeed
A BIG thank you to the Girl Scout Group in Wrangell, who decorated the boxes, collected the coats and shipped them to Dare to Care to distribute. THANK YOU, GIRLS!
